Opinion on Collingwood's Aesthetics

Collingwood makes some interesting points throughout his piece of literature. Although I agree with some of his points I also disagree with others. When Collingwood says that "Art is fundamentally expression." I do agree that art is definitely a form of expression. Art expresses what the artist is feeling at that particular point and time of creating that piece. He tries to define art and craft. According to Collingwood, craft is an unfinished or raw product and craft is what you make into art. He also states that craft is planned out that's where he went into detail about bakers and carpenters. He also says that bakers and carpenters plan out what their going to do next.  Although, carpenters and bakers might not seem to be artists, they are creating something, aren't they? Therefore they are artists. Cakes and buildings are considered pieces of art. Artwork can vary, some artwork can be completely planned out with every thin line of detail. While other works of art can be spur of the moment kind of thing. Collingwood also notices that there are other types of art he recognizes that opera is an art. Opera takes planning, time, technique just like painting and drawing. I disagree with Collingwood with him trying to find a definition to art, and a major difference between art and craft. Art cannot be defined, it is what you make of it, it can be planned out or spur of the moment.
